Objectives
(i) To strengthen the understanding of lawmakers on two key issues impacting on indigenous customary land rights:
a) landmark judicial decisions on indigenous customary land rights; and,
b) the European Union’s Forest Law Enforcement Governance and Trade – Voluntary Partnership Agreements (FLEGT-VPA) process.
(ii) To prepare lawmakers for possible parliamentary debates on these issues.
(iii) To look into the possibility of initiating the tabling of a series of amendments to various federal laws affecting indigenous customary land rights reflecting the judicial decisions above.
